Beret Flash Description: A shield-shaped embroidered item with a semi-circular base edged with a 1/8 inch (.32cm) yellow border, 2 1/4 inches (5.72cm) in height and 1 7/8 inches (4.76cm) in width overall, divided vertically in half, white to left and silver gray to right below a black chief. The beret flash was approved on 30 Jul 1991.

Background Trimming

Oval Description: An oval-shaped embroidered item edged with a 1/8 inch (.32cm) yellow border, 1 3/8 inches (3.49cm) in height and 2 1/4 inches (5.72cm) in width overall, divided on the horizontal center line, the upper half black, the lower half divided vertically in half, white to the left and silver gray to right. The background trimming was originally approved on 7 Jan 1965. It was amended to revise the description 30 Jul 1991.

Beret Flash Description: A white shield-shaped embroidered item with a semicircular base 2 1/4 inches (5.72cm) in height and 1 7/8 inches (4.76cm) in width overall, edged with a 1/8 inch (.32cm) white border. The beret flash was originally approved for wear by the Special Forces School on 28 Oct 1981. It was redesignated for wear by the members of the Special Operations School on 10 Mar 1992.
